Welcome to Year 5!
Year 5 is an important year with children becoming much more independent learners and beginning to apply their previous knowledge, understanding and skills in a wide range of contexts. They also get the opportunity to enjoy more roles and responsibilities within the school. Year 5 has two classes, Clyde and Tweed, and we work closely together covering the same curriculum. We immerse ourselves in our Topics each term, bringing learning to life. Continuing to build a love of reading is a key focus in Year 5, with children being encouraged to read for pleasure and being supported to make their own book choices. Over the year, there are so many varied events just for Year 5, including swimming, fundraising events, trips and visitors to school.
The documents below detail the skills and topics taught throughout the term.
